In 1926, two German companies merged to start one of the most prominent luxury car brands of the world.
The story of these two companies starts way back in 1885.
Karl Benz had invented the first gasoline-powered automobile in 1885, on the other side Gottlieb Daimler and his engineer Wilhelm Maybach invented the first four-wheeled motor vehicle in 1886.
Both companies became leaders in the automotive industry in no time.
Decided to merge together DMG and Benz & Cie.became Daimler-Benz company in 1926.
Soont they got the name Mercedes which is a whole different story.
From the early days, Mercedes-Benz started becoming popular for its luxury vehicles.
The company's first car, the Mercedes-Benz 35 PS, was a high-performance car that became hugely accepted among wealthy buyers.
They also pioneered many new technologies in the automotive industry. For example, the company was one of the first to introduce the four-wheel brake system, the safety airbag, and the anti-lock braking system.
Soon enough Mercedes-Benz is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world, with a presence in over 200 countries.
