Our flagship programme · IMC · Integrated Member Community

The next great AI idea could come from India’s smallest village.

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn’t, yet.

The IMC AI Rural Innovation Awards is a nationwide programme open to every student with a great AI idea, with a special focus on discovering and supporting talent from rural India, because a good idea should never be limited by geography or access. It runs under Nine Angle Foundation, and it is where we put education, one of our five pillars, into action.

This isn’t a race to be #1. It’s a journey. Every idea that joins gets mentorship, support and a chance to grow.

Shared dream: AI for good

The gap we’re closing

Why rural India?

Kids in cities often grow up around computers, the internet and people who can guide them. Millions of students in rural India have just as many brilliant ideas. They just haven’t had the same chances yet.

That’s why rural India is our focus, not our limit. The Awards are open to any student with a great AI idea, and every application is placed into one of two categories, Rural and Rural–Urban, so recognition stays fair and our support goes where it’s needed most.

A good idea should never be limited by where you live.

How it works

Six steps from a classroom idea to a national celebration.

Not a race, a journey. Every idea that makes it through gets mentorship and support along the way.

  1. Share your ideaStudents submit their AI idea through a simple online application. No fancy pitch deck needed.
  2. Friendly reviewA panel of experts looks at every single idea, for originality, impact and heart, not just polish.
  3. 50 ideas move forward50 promising ideas, from both categories, are chosen to continue the journey.
  4. Mentors and AI tools join inSelected students get a mentor and, wherever helpful, access to real AI tools and resources.
  5. Build something realStudents work with their mentor to turn their idea into an actual working project.
  6. Celebrate together10 to 20 stand-out ideas receive special recognition at the National Awards, and every one of the 50 is celebrated.

Eligibility

Two categories. One shared mission.

Every applicant is placed into one of two categories, so recognition stays fair and the spotlight on rural India stays sharp.

Category 01

Rural–Urban

For students from cities, towns and semi-urban areas who already have some access to schools, technology and mentors.

Category 02

Rural

For students from rural India, the heart of this initiative, and where IMC’s outreach, mentorship and AI access are concentrated.

  1. Any student, from anywhere in India. You’ll be placed in the Rural or Rural–Urban category based on where you study.
  2. Solo applicants, working on their own idea from start to finish.
  3. Team submissions. Totally optional, for ideas built with classmates or friends.
  4. School and college students, with exact age and grade eligibility set by administrators.

Beyond the trophy

It’s about discovering brilliant minds before the world does.

IMC is building a long-term support system, where deserving students keep getting mentorship, access to technology and new opportunities, long after the Awards ceremony ends.

A student’s potential should never depend on their postal code. IMC is committed to finding deserving talent, sharing knowledge and AI resources, connecting students with mentors, and helping turn promising ideas into real solutions that help people.

Success here isn’t the trophy. It’s watching an idea go on to help real people.

Take the first step

Got an idea that could help people?

Don’t let a lack of resources stop you. Share your idea with IMC and take the first step from imagination to invention.

“Innovation doesn’t belong to cities. It belongs to curious minds. Our job is to make sure every brilliant mind gets a chance to be seen.”
