As part of the MPowered project, 136 Smart Sakhis are actively supporting 2800 ultra-poor women across 55 villages through mobile technology📲 They provide valuable training and coaching on various #livelihood activities while helping participants access important government schemes and entitlements. In addition, they organize village meetings and collaborate with Community Resource Persons from the Mission Shakti Department to effectively manage Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and facilitate credit linkages. They also offer practical support for organizing digital practice days, interface meetings, and nutrition festivals at the gram panchayat level, promoting community engagement and empowerment. Trickle Up India Foundation's e-Coaching Model helps Smart Sakhis have shared resources and curriculums and track progress of project participants. . . . MPowered closes the gender digital divide and connects women to #technology that supports their livelihoods, agency, and financial resilience. The PoP Livelihoods app was developed in coordination with @TrickleUpIndiaFoundation, TATA Communications, and the #Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS). It provides tools like a money manager, updated farming information and agricultural best practices, and business management tools that are accessible and easy to use for participants. #DigitalInclusion can help rural women transform their #livelihoods by providing access to essential services, financial tools, and educational opportunities. Before cook stoves, MPowered participants use a 'choolah' or a traditional mud wood-fire stove in their homes. Households would have to gather wood from the forest every one to two weeks to have enough fuel for the daily use of the choolah. Using the smart cookstoves provided by the MPowered project, women are able to dedicate more of their time to their #livelihoods and reduce the time and health burden of household responsibilities. . . . What happens when the world’s poorest women have a wealth of information at their fingertips? MPowered, supported by @tatacomms and implemented by @TrickleUpIndiaFoundation (TUIF) places the power of mobile technology in the hands of women living in ultra-poverty who are in the process of developing their livelihoods. With Tata Communications’ support, TUIF has implemented two phases of the Mobile Connections to Promote Women’s Economic Development (MPOWERED) project since 2016, supporting 2800 women in Odisha and Jharkhand build sustainable and climate resilient livelihoods. We expect that participants will see increased income, greater integration into social and economic structures, and increased social status. Alongside training on entrepreneurial skills, our team is #coaching participants how to use digital tools to enhance their access to information and services. Participants are also learning how to mitigate and adapt their livelihoods to the effects of #ClimateChange.
